Although the civil war ended ten years ago there, this country is still in ruins. The current president of the country’s Jose Eduardo dos Santos (who wields power for more than 38 years old) constantly takes operations to accelerate reconstruction of the country after the war. Effects of his efforts, unfortunately, can not be seen at all. The average life expectancy in this country is 51 years. Unemployment reaches almost 30%. Angola can be likened to a ticking time bomb – since there is a considerable risk of explosion of the AIDS epidemic. This is due to the mass rapes of civilians supporting the opposite side of the conflict during the past civil war. Unfortunately, there is an unknown number of people infected with the virus and the sick.

Stalemate of the country undoubtedly increases (and maybe even determines) the economy disorganized because of the war. Despite the wealth of natural resources, income per capita are the lowest in the world. Substantial reserves of crude oil and diamonds can not be fully utilized until Angola will have led to the conclusion of a lasting peace and the government reformation. People are used by government to work in unimagined conditions – It may be compared to the Auschwitz conditions (If You have never participated in the trip kind of Auschwitz tours – You shoud imperatively do it as soon as poss and finally visit Auschwitz).

Angola is not getting rich off their immense deposits of raw materials, because the whole time repaying debts for ammunition and weapons.

Hopeless situation of this country, however, did not disturb the president’s daughter to become a billionaire. The richest African woman does not owe it her own accomplishments or talents, but only his own father.

The state of the huge potential does not develop at all. Angola for years is on the Transparecy International Organization’s black list of most corrupt countries in the world. The rulings, bathe in all luxuries while their inferiors live for a few dollars a day. Unfortunately, confident Angolans, do not allow to control themselves by external environment and the biggest weapon of them is now threat of oil sales stopping fo the west. West can not afford to lose such an important supplier, which in the event of termination of the contract would not have the slightest problem to find a new trade area – China for example. Thus, ‘dos Santos’ family will still enjoy the plenty and luxuries while the prospect of improving the living conditions of ordinary people in Angola appears to be very remote, and even unlikely at the moment.
